The Living Centre

Eco-Spiritual Educational Sanctuary

Founded in 1983 by Shantree Kacera to fulfill his dream of living in the country in accordance with the laws of nature, The Living Centre has been an oasis of healing and learning for thousands of people from around the world. Focused on ‘Care of the Earth, Care of People and Care of Future Generations,' Shantree and his wife Lorenna Bousquet-Kacera seek to offer life-inspiring programs for those who desire to be the agents of change and are willing to cultivate a deeper connection with the natural world, themselves and their community. to be agents of change in creating a beautiful Earth Community.

Committed to preserving and restoring native medicinal plants and their habitats, The Living Centre is known for having one of the oldest medicinal herb gardens in Canada and is recognized by the United Plant Savers (UpS) as a botanical sanctuary. The Centre has also partnered with the International Sacred Seed Sanctuary Network and the Carolinian Canada Coalition.

Over the course of 35 years, The Living Centre has transformed into a multifunctional and ecologically rich classroom which consists of an abundance of forest gardens, a charming teaching lodge, a solar earth lodge, quaint guest cabins, medicine wheel herb garden, native plant trail, forest pathways, meadows, ponds, organic orchards, a snake habitat, a cordwood-cob building, the dynamically alive energy of the land and a wide range of wildlife.

The Living Arts Institute branch of the Centre offers certification and diploma courses that support people in creating ecologically sound lifestyles and careers. We supported students from over 20 countries around the world.
