Regeneration - Ecological Medicine:

A Call to Action

The state motto of Hawai'i, which says "Ua mau ka ea o'ka aina, i ka pono"; that is, "The life of the land is preserved in goodness". It is implicit that, when the goodness/creativity of the people fails, the ecological state of the land will suffer. It is also implicit that when the ecological state of the land is disturbed, the health and happiness of the people will be affected.

Regeneration is a design science that weaves together the principles of sustainability. This training course will give you a solid, wholistic, ecological worldview, while simultaneously offering practical solutions that demonstrate how we can create a sustainable, abundant garden environment, home and regenerate our community. Empowering individuals to live whole-heartily, deeply rooted in the abundant flows of natural systems.

It is possible to rapidly heal the land and ourselves. Regenerative living is a mutually enhancing relationship between the people and the earth.

Regeneration: The Art of Sustainable Living

"The regeneration of society is the regeneration of society by individual education."
~Jean de la Bruyere

Reach into the ecological depths of your own backyard to intentionally create a thriving ecosystem that feeds you and your spirit, nourishes the landscape, and builds human and natural communities. Guided by ecological regenerative designers and permaculture specialists Lorenna and Shantree Kacera.

As we grasp new conceptual frameworks by applying practical ecological design techniques, we learn essential skills for replenishing and regenerating ourselves, our ecological biospheres, and our human communities back home. Open to beginners as well as those with some experience, this training will lay a solid foundation for continued studies in forest gardening and permaculture - on your own or through a Permaculture Design Course.

Principles and Practices of Regenerative Design

We need to ask ourselves:
"What kind of future are we creating for our children and grandchildren?"

What can we do? As caring individuals, now is the time to learn new ways to positively contribute to improving our own lives, our families, our gardens and our community's environmental and social health. We must heed the words of Einstein: "We cannot solve the significant problems we face at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them." We need to ask, "What new ways of thinking will get us out of this mess and help us restore our world to health?"

Ecological principles form the foundation of this way of seeing, and offer concrete directions for finding solutions to multiple problems with maximum effect for least effort. These principles apply at all scales, from your garden bed, to your neighborhood, to your bioregion, and in every realm of human endeavor. This is your invitation to experience a new way of looking at your world, and through that lens, you will find empowerment and skills you never knew existed. We'll also engage with issues of ecology and the deep paradigmatic shifts required to succeed at co-creating ‘humanatural' landscapes and cultures. You will leave inspired and empowered to design regenerative landscapes for your sacred self and sacred garden sanctuary.

A garden is a place of beauty; it is a sanctuary for the spirit, that goes back to ancient times, when gardens and forests were part of our common spiritual tradition.

The practice of regeneration will provide you with the necessary nourishment and open the gateway to a deeper understanding of your 'roots'.

Regenerative Living in Harmonious Balance with the Earth, Beyond Sustainability

It is time to regenerate both ourselves and environment. We can consciously apply the principles of ecology to the design of our inner ecology as well as home scale gardens that mimic forest ecosystem structure and function. Indeed, we must begin learning to apply ecological principles to the design of our natural living systems now - to create a better world for ourselves and seven generations into the future.

This change in our culture will require that we learn to live within our energetic means and begin to rebuild ecosystems that support human and humane lives without diminishing the ability of the ecosystem to support our children and grandchildren.

While the global problem is huge, most of the solutions available to us are local, personal, empowering, and potentially enlivening, enlightening, and fun. Regenerative living is one of these solutions, and we now have the resources at hand to transform our own lives, our living spaces and gardens into productive sacred sanctuaries.
