Thomas Berry,C.P., Ph.D.

Historian, Author, Geologian. Thomas Berry was born in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1914. From his academic beginnings as a historian of world cultures and religions, Among advocates of deep ecology and "ecospirituality" he is famous for proposing that a deep understanding of the history and functioning of the evolving universe is a necessary inspiration and guide for our own effective functioning as individuals and as a species. He is considered a leader in the tradition of Teilhard de Chardin. Berry developed into a historian of the Earth and its evolutionary processes. He describes himself as a "geologian". Berry received his Ph.D. in European Intellectual History with a thesis on Giambattista Vico's philosophy of history. Widely read in Western history, he also spent many years studying the cultural history of Asia. He has lived in China and traveled to other parts of Asia. He authored two books on Asian religions, Buddhism and Religions of India (distributed by Columbia University Press). For two decades, he directed Red Oak the Riverdale Center of Religious Research along the Hudson River.

Larry Buell

Larry Buell is an environmental educator and patnership director of University of the Wild. He specializes in "Sense of Place" interpretations of the natural and cultural environments and creating Earth-based living and learning communities. Larry received his master's in Outdoor Education from Penn State and his doctorate from the University of Massachusetts. He is founder and former director of the Outdoor Leadership Program and the Earth Education Human Ecology curriculum at Greenfield Community College where he is Professor Emeritus of Human Ecology. In 1992 he founded the Earthlands intentional community and environmental center. Larry is the visionary behind University of the Wild and continues to take an active role in its development. Larry is the author of numerous books and articles, including, The Outdoor Leadership Competency Manual; The 24-Hour Experience: An Outdoor Adventure Program; a text book on Human Ecology: Roots of our Worldview and Foundations for a Sustainable Future; and Return to the Meadow:Poetry, Prose, and Images of Place. Larry is dedicated to working with others to creat a sustainable community within his beloved North Quabbin Bioregion in North Central Massachusetts.

Shanti Golds-Cousens

Has dedicated her life to love, service and devotion. She shares what she considers a Trinity of Wisdom—Kali Ray Tri Yoga, aromatherapy and living foods. She offers this holistic Trinity as the Director of Yoga and Guest Services at the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center in Patagonia, Arizona. The depth of her experience in the spiritual and healing arts, along with her compassionate presence, inspires and illuminates the lives of all those she serves. Shanti is a senior teacher of Kali Ray Tri yoga, a kundalini-inspired flowing form of hatha yoga. In 1986 she became among the first of the trained Kali Ray Tri Yoga teachers and taught as a Senior Teacher at the Kali Ray Tri Yoga headquarters in Santa Cruz, California for 16 years.

Dr. David Frawley

Is one of the most important scholars and authors of Ayurveda and Vedic Science today. He has expounded the ancient wisdom of the Vedas. Frawley is an Indian in an American body. The ease with which he enters into the spiritual of the Indian tradition and renders its deeper concepts in terms of modern thought shows an unusual familiarity with this ancient wisdom. He is the secretary of Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Vamadeva (Dr. Frawley) presents authentic Vedic knowledge in the Western world and in a lucid presentation recognized by the tradition itself. He has worked extensively teaching, writing, lecturing, conducting research and helping establish schools and associations in related Vedic fields over the last thirty years. He has studied and traveled widely gathering knowledge, working with various Vedic teachers and groups in a non-sectarian manner. Vamadeva sees his role as helping to revive Vedic knowledge in an interdisciplinary approach for the planetary age. Rosemary Gladstar

Has been a practicing herbalist for 30 years. she has founded the California School of Herbal Studies, United Plant Savers, co-founded Sage Mountain Herbs, and is a founding member of the Northeast Herb Association. She is the co-director of the International Herb Symposium and The New England Women?s Herbal Conference.
Rosemary is the author of several books, including best seller Herbal Healing for Women and the newly released Gladstar Family Herbal. She has taught herbs extensively throughout the U.S. and has led travel adventures worldwide. Her experience includes over 30 years in the herbal community as a healer, teacher, visionary and organizer of herbal events.

David L. Hoffmann, B.Sc. (Hons), M.N.I.M.H.

Member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists. He also co-founded a spiritual community in the Preseli Mountain area of West Wales, which is deeply involved in the birthing of the New Age in the hearts and minds of all, especially children. Author and a consultant medical herbalist for six years, has lectured widely on holistic herbalism, as well as personal and planetary transformation, and has been doing television work and writing as well. He has been active in the environmental movement, standing for Parliament in the 1983 election as a representative of the Ecology Party. He was appointed to the post of Director of the California School of Herbal Studies, North America's premier centre of herbal education, as well as being elected President of the American Herbalist Guild. He regularly teaches in Canada, the USA and New Zealand.His commitment to herbalism is a reflection of a deep involvement in transformation - both personal and planetary.

Robert Lewanski

Is a Certified Ayurvedic Nutritional/Herbal Counselor and a Practitioner of the Chinese Five Element Energetic System of Body Typing Analysis. Chi Kung Yoga Instructor, Shiatsu Deep Tissue Massage Therapist, and Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with 30 years of research, teaching and practice. Brian Swimme, Ph.D.

Is an author of several books dealing with cosmology, evolution and religion. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in 1978 in gravitational dynamics. His research focuses on the evolutionary dynamics of the universe, the relationship between scientific cosmology and more traditional religious visions and the role of humanity in the unfolding story of Earth and cosmos. In 1998, he founded the international Epic of Evolution Society forum for artists, scientists, ecofeminists, ecologists, religious thinkers and educators interested in the new story. Swimme's media work includes the video series, Canticle to the Cosmos and The Hidden Heart of the Cosmos.

Dr. Farida Sharon, N.D.

Is the Founder and Director of the School of Natural Medicine, an author, educator, natural physician, mystic dancer and yoga teacher, international lecturer and seminar leader. Her training includes Esalen massage, Gestalt Therapy, European Massage & Beauty treatments, Reflexology, Shiatsu, Yoga Teacher Training with Yogi Bhajan, Polarity Therapy, Iridology, Naturopathy and Herbal Medicine (MH) with Dr. Raymond Christopher and his the School of Natural Healing, and Iridology with Dr. Bernard Jensen.

Starhawk

Is one of the most respected voices in modern earth-based spirituality. She is also well-known as a global justice activist and organizer, whose work and writings have inspired many to action. Christopher Tittmus,

Is a co-founder of Gaia House and has been leading insight meditation retreats worldwide, which focus on awakening. He was a Buddhist monk in Thailand and India. His teachings emphasize liberation, depths of meditation and inquiry. His recent books include An Awakened Life, The Buddha's Book of Daily Meditations and Buddhist Wisdom for Daily Living. He is the recent founder and facilitator of the Dharma Facilitators Program for Europe. He lives in Totnes, Devon, England. He has been teaching Awakening and Insight Meditation around the world since 1975.
