Autumn Equinox & International Peace Day

autumn Autumn Equinox & International Day of Peace Celebration

September 21st, 6:30 - 9:30

Joining together to be the way of Peace!

Sept. 21st is a special day. A time to celebrate the great harvest and abundance from what was planted in spring and nurtured through the warm and gracious summer months - in our crops, our adventures, our relationships, Earth connection and spiritual growth.

As well, we will be joining 200 countries all over world and 80 million people who will be celebrating Peace on this International Day of Peace, established by the United Nations.

Ceremony of Sacred Reciprocity

This is a time to Celebrate Life and all we have been given. We will do this in a ceremony where we can give back to the great forces that give us Life, that heal and nurture us from season to season -  Air, Fire, Water and Earth   This will take place outside on the land, weather permitting or in our Teaching Lodge. When we come together in community and focus an intention of healing and the return of balance and harmony for all Beings, we create together a powerful energy that not only enlivens our lives but ripples out to all of creation.

We welcome you to join us in circle to celebrate the turning of the seasons and opportunity to align our hearts and minds in the creation of a Culture of Peace.

About the International Day of Peace
This year, 2013, the International Day of Peace is on a Saturday, September 21st, and special activities and celebrations will take place all across the world over the 2013 Peace Day Weekend, including festivals, concerts, a global Peace Wave with moments of silence at noon in every time zone, and much more.

The International Day of Peace, a.k.a. "Peace Day" provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date.

In 1981, the United Nations General Assembly, by unanimous vote, adopted Resolution 36/67 establishing the International Day of Peace (IDP) which stated in part, “…to devote a specific time to concentrate the efforts of the United Nations and its Member States, as well as the whole of mankind, to promoting the ideals of peace and to giving positive evidence of their commitment to peace in all viable ways.” The first Peace Day was celebrated in September 1982 on the opening day of the General Assembly.

In 2002 the UN General Assembly officially declared September 21 as the permanent annual date for the International Day of Peace. For more information click here
